Looking Forward to 2010 as a Focus Club
We are delighted to annonce that we have achieved Focus Club status. Details of
what this means can be found in the "About Petersfield CC" section of the web
site.
Looking forward to next year we have 3 new captains to lead the senior sides.
Ash Spencer will captain the 1st XI, Andy Clarke the 2nd XI and Marcus Sampson
the Sunday XI. Nick Blakstad will be captaining the 3rd XI at the start of the
season and will be looking for a successor to train into the position.
Cricket Force 2010 was a great success for the club and The Heath pavilion now
has a pool table and dart board and will soon have a flat screen TV. Othe
improvements have been made to the decoration and this is just the start of a
much bigger plan which is currently being drawn up for the club which will
transform the pavilion into a club house that we can be proud of.
The new net facility at The Heath has been completed by Derek Underwood's
company Clubturf. It looks really good with a high net for the spinners and an
astroturf surface. Remember that the Colts made a huge contribution to this with
the Waitrose bag pack and the application for funding to the Youth Opportunities
Fund.
The indoor coaching sessions are now finished and the dates and times for the
outdoor sessions for seniors and colts have now been announced. We are trying to make joining a little easier to administer
in 2010 and you can start to join now by following the instructions in our
Colts - How to Join Section
and our
Senior - How to Join Section
. Please make sure that you have filled out a membership form and paid your
subscriptions before playing.
In order to help our future plans we are still looking for volunteers. Many
thanks to all those who have volunteered for roles in the club over the past few
months. One of the members suggested that to make volunteering less intimidating
it is a good idea for any role to be no more than 2 years unless someone is keen
to continue and also for any volunteer not to have to find their own
replacement. This is a great idea and something that we will stick to which
hopefully will mean there are more willing volunteers.
More details about volunteering in the club and roles available can be found on
our "Volunteering" page but we are in urgent need of a Sponsorship
Secretary who will be willing to put in any time they can to help raise
sponsorship. We have lots of good ideas but it needs a co-ordinated approach.
