Colts Fun Day 2010
The 2010 Fun Day was another great success.
The U7s and U9s had seperate games and the girls had a great match against their
parents with quite a few mums showing the potential for a ladies team in the
future.
The boys won the U11 match but the parents came out on top in the U13s and U15
match. The senior select XI vs the U15s and U17s had to be abandoned as a draw
because of bad light but the seniors did not look like letting go of their 100%
record over the years.
Colts Fun Day 2009
Petersfield
held their annual Colts’ Fun day at the Heath where it was a chance for the
whole club and parents to play and have fun to end the season.
The
U7s and U9s were split into two teams captained by Mat Friend and
Alfie Casson and the teams’ mums and dads were put onto
opposing teams to play in a 20 over match. Mat’s team just pipped Alfie’s team
by 16 runs but the youngsters had great fun in having a chance to bowl and bat
against their mum’s and dads.
The league
winning Under 13s and the Under 11s were teamed up against their parents. The
colts batted first and reached 97 off 20 overs but some good batting from the
parents team was just good enough to reach the target.
The final
game of the day was the U17s and U15s against a senior select XI. The senior
team batted first and reached 127 off 20 overs with a fine 77 not out from
Will Rice. However this did not prove to be enough and
the U17s comfortably passed the total with Shaun Blanks on 50 not out supported
by a quick 30 from Matt Salmon.
Everyone
enjoyed the day and the matches went on all day in wonderful weather and the
barbeques, teas and cakes all helped to raise over £800 for the club. This was
thanks to all the volunteers who helped throughout the day.
Colts Fun Day 2008
The Fun Day in 2008 was postponed and then cancelled due to bad weather
Colts Fun Day 2007
In 2007 Petersfield CC held their annual fun day and presentation on Saturday
and were blessed with fine weather. The event was well attended and it gave the
chance for the mums and dads to play against their sons and daughters in a
series of fun matches. The under 9s and Under 11s played in the morning and this
was followed by a close match between the Under 17s and the 3rd XI. The 3rd XI
won the toss and made 108-5 in 20 overs helped by contributions from colts, Will
Jameson, Matt Salmon and Ed Davenport. The U17s looked like they were on their
way to victory at 75-2 off 12 overs thanks to 43 from Fred Patten but some tight
bowling a bit of experience kept runs to a minimum and the Under 17s just fell
short. The U13s split themselves into a bowling team and batting team and took
on the Under 15s and Dads who showed some hidden talent.
